Holtebüttel hat gerockt!Holtebüttel has rocked!

About half an hour away from Bremen, driving by car, lies contemplative Holtebüttel. Yesterday the contemplativeness was soon to be gone! The Band KICKSTART opened up the HOLTEBÜTTEL ROCKT 2011 festival with Hardrock of the old school type that reminded me a lot of good old Guns´n´Roses presented with the fitting visual appearance and attitude.

At this point already a fair delay began to manifest because the band began half an hour behind schedule and took a good hour for their own set. Didn´t really matter for ourselves as the third to play but probably sucked for the later bands.

The second band of the day kind of belongs to the alternative corner, yet, I am not deep enough in the matter to drop any name to compare. Anyway, fresh, dynamic, young and powerful the local trio ARRANT rocked down their set. I think the singer prompted the audience to come „5 steps closer“ after every single song they played and those who refused were titled „old“. I´ll leave that without a comment. At any rate there was already much more agoing on in front of the stage than with the band before.

Unfortunately I can´t really say a lot about the other bands of the night because I was either lingering about at the merch stand or had surrender to the call of my camp bed in the fire department station while HEADBANGER´s NIGHTMARE played their show. So far concerning everything not Sorrowfield-related.

We had a supossively thankful slot in the middle of the billing at about 11:00 pm and an Open Air-Gig in the dark is really something remarkable, especially when you are being welcomed with „Sorrowfield“-chantings already during the backfitting interval. That was really gorgeous, folks! 🙂
The set for tonight was solely made of „Heritage Of Fire“-Songs, except for „Nightline“ from out first album „Horus“. Sadly we could not bring the „Heritage“-album along because it is yet in the making of the press shop. „Remember me “ is surely going to remain our standard-opener and so it was tonite. The audience was „with us“ from the beginning on, especially the fans in front row made this night a very special one for us. I believe that „Fire“ was very well received in particular and the obligatory „dancing contest“ that goes with „Blood Dance“ worked out fantastic!

Through my in-ear-monitoring I could hear basically noise which brought me to the edge of my physical fitness, however, that was not enough to stop me enjoying this thing to the very last breath. We ended the regular set with „Legions“ and seized the oppurtunity to play an encore (because we were asked for it) and that was „Decorating Drunkards“.
After the show we gathered at the merch stand and prepared our stuff. The „front row“ was already there and had themselves some signatures given onto various things (one of them had his ass signed). Here we had the chance to get know our fans a little better,  let them participate in our traditional after-show-Dirty-Harry-drink and had some very nice chats.

The festival was alltogether raised up in a very professional way and surely engaged with lots of honorary offices. The crew was particularly nice and the catering was rich and good. I have heard of about 400 paying guest on Wednesday and I believe that number is capable of development with a little amount of concerted promotion.

Conclusion: great night, great people! Thanks a lot Holtebüttel, see you next time!!!
